Birding Holidays

New birdwatching holidays in the Picos de Europa are being developed by an Asturian, English-speaking guide with more than 20 years' birding experience. Take advantage of his local knowledge

and enjoy a week looking for birds such as Lammergeier (aka Bearded vulture), Black woodpecker and Wallcreeper in diverse landscapes, from ancient woods to the stark limestone terrain of the high mountain peaks. The holidays are based in Rio Aliso apartments, surrounded by woods and close to colonies of resident Griffon vultures and, in summer, nesting Egyptian vultures. They run from April through to September.

Javi also runs day and half-day trips all through the year. Check out, for example, the coastal option here where possibilities include, depending on season, over-wintering Osprey, resident Peregrine falcon, myriad migrating waders and seabirds such as nesting European Storm petrel and Gannet.
